An Answered Prayer for Zechariah and Elizabeth
Zechariah could not believe his ears. For he said Unto the angel how shall this be for I am old and my wife well stricken in years In fact, because Zechariah doubted the message of God through his Angel he was unable to speak until just before John was born.
Zechariah could not say a word yet he was full of joy, knowing that something amazing was going to happen.
Elizabeth’s Joyful News
Elizabeth was very happy too. She knew their baby would be extraordinary. Now at six months, Mary went to see her cousin whom would later be the mother of Jesus.
The baby in Elizabeth’s belly leaped with joy when Mary walked into the house. John was so excited to meet Jesus he jumped for joy while still in the womb!
When Was John the Baptist Born?
No one knows his exact birthday, but many suspect he was born on June 24. That is because the Bible says that John was born six months before Jesus, whom people celebrate on December 25. Because of this there are some people that celebrate a day called the Feast of St. John every year, which is on June 24th.

As he grew, John turned into a fine brave man. In the desert he lived, garments made of camels hair had been his much loved sleeves and theory remaining in wild honey as well as locusts. This probably sounds weird, but John was steadfast with his mission. He told people about God, and baptized them in the River Jordan.

One day, Jesus came to be baptized by John. Now, John had earlier sent his disciples to Jesus so that after they heard the works of Him and His words they could tell him whether he was surprised.

And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. This was a very crucial time, because it marked the unquestionably recognition that Jesus is the Son of God.
John’s Important Role
John the baptist spent his life saying that people need to repent of their sins and follow God. When some people disapproved of what he was doing, nevertheless he remained courageous and continued to act in the way that he knew best.
